conzept 16 version 5.8, which will support Windows 10, is planned for spring 2015. We are also saying goodbye to Windows 2000 and Windows XP, as Microsoft has not officially supported these operating systems for some time. All upcoming updates of version 5.7 can of course still be used under Windows 2000 and XP.
Windows 2000 (Windows NT 5.0) was due to be released at the end of 1997. Due to complications, this happened on February 17, 2000, followed by the release of Windows XP on August 25, 2001. It became the best-selling Windows operating system to date and prevailed over its successor Windows Vista due to its stability.
The provision of security updates for Windows 2000 was discontinued in 2010. Since April 2014, this also applies to Windows XP.
In terms of security, it will inevitably be necessary to switch from Windows XP to a newer operating system. We have therefore decided to no longer support both operating systems from version 5.8 onwards. This affects all components of conzept 16. The minimum requirement for the operating system used will then be Windows Vista. At least Windows Server 2003 is required for the server operating systems.
1.Update: conzept 16 uses a number of libraries for which newer versions unfortunately no longer run under Windows XP. For example, PDF documents of PDF version 1.7 cannot be printed or displayed in the print preview under XP, as the latest library for PDF printing (PrtPDF object) does not run with it – if the client is started under XP, it therefore uses an older library. Since new conzept 16 versions also require library updates due to bug fixes and enhancements, this problem will occur more frequently in the future.
2.Update: We will provide a compatibility mode for Windows XP for version 5.8, which will enable the components to run on this platform. This may result in restrictions regarding the new features of 5.8 if they are not suitable for XP.
