Now that we have expanded the Designer in conzept 16 version 5.7.04 to include record management, we plan to integrate another tool into the Designer in one of the upcoming versions.
The new tool for managing BLObs is designed to make it easier for developers to work with binary objects. In the following article, we’d like to give you a sneak peek at a prototype of the management system.
The BLOb management system is designed to simplify working with binary objects for developers, thereby reducing their programming workload. To this end, the management system provides the following functions:
- Creating, deleting, emptying, and renaming binary objects and directories
- Importing and exporting files and directories
- Display of common file types (e.g., .png, .jpg, .gif, etc.)
- Executing or displaying binary objects externally
- Cut, copy, and paste (including via drag and drop) binary objects and directories
The BLOb management graphical user interface provides users with a convenient way to view binary objects and directories. Its layout is modeled after Windows Explorer.
Just like in Windows Explorer, you can open multiple folders at the same time. Each folder is then displayed in its own window.
The developer can still view the properties of a binary object or directory. Here, the name, custom property, MIME type, and user-defined type can be edited.
Properties of a binary objectAdditional features are planned for the final version:
- Search for binary objects and their contents (for text)
- Extracting metadata (e.g., from images, text, PDFs, etc.)
- Preview
- Drag & Drop with Windows Explorer (Export, Import)
